Probably the best off piste skiing in Norway

Strandafjellet skisenter might not be the biggest, but location is everything! 50min drive incl. a short and scenic trip across the fjord on a ferry, and you’re there. When it rains in Ålesund, you might find it to be fresh snow in the mountains.

The lifts are located on each their side of a valley, making it possible to catch the sun from whatever angle it’s at. Off piste is fairly safe but make sure you don’t go to far, and if you’re not that experienced, stay on the slopes.

Great for kids and beginners (although if you’re just starting out you might have more fun at Sunnmørsalpane skisenter, Fjellsetra (exit to the left approx 15 mins earlier).

Rentals available, buy your tickets online, and enjoy a moose burger on the top of Roalden with an amazing view of the fjord.
