Built in 1958, the Bakkely house has been our family’s home through generations, filled with history and memories ever since. The house was fully renovated in 2021, carefully trying to honour the original style while adding all the comfort of the modern life.
Bakkely can comfortably accommodate up to 13 people and we’re happy to be your hosts.
It might not be in the city center, but the location is still great for exploring the Sunnmøre area. You can easily reach both sea and hilltops by walking and by car you can truly get the full experience of the area, either it’s hiking, skiing, fjord safari, shopping or fine dining in Ålesund. Here’s a selection of sights you should not miss if you have the time and energy.

Bakkely is situated about 20 mins from the city center, but is well located for activites. With a generous parking area, charger for electric cars and easily accessible by car, you’ll get both there and back, for sure. The bus stop is just a few mins away, and the nearest airport is Vigra.

“Maria's place was amazing. combining sleek Scandinavian design concepts with elegant and comfortable Spanish furniture and decor. We got to meet Øystein and Maria in person and they are just lovely people. the house is conveniently located for travel by car, and had direct access to local hiking, downtown Alesund and the ocean.
We found a floating sauna in Alesund called SVAI, which fit our group of 4 easily. It gave us direct access to the ocean and could probably squeeze in 12 if everyone is tight.”

So neat and clean, with all the necessities you could possibly need. The reception and communication with Maria and her father was also super!”

“This airbnb is FANTASTIC! I stayed here in December with a work collective of artists, and it is a great place for a workstay. 5 very spacious bedrooms and one smaller childrens room. Big kitchen, and a big living room with comfortable furniture. Beautiful, eclectic and stylish house with all amenities.
Perfect also for family and group of friends wanting to experience the region of Sunnmøre. 20 minutes drive to beautiful city of Ålesund with very nice restaurants and other things to do like a great aquarium and an indoor swimmingpool.
The region has everything to offer for the ones looking for great hiking/skiing and other stunning nature experiences. The house itself is so comfortable, and with a very nice ambience. The hosts are very friendly and welcoming. I can only but recommend this highly.”

“Awesome house and interior, everything was new and nice. Lots of room for 6 adults and 3 young children. They arranged everything for the little ones; highchairs, sprinkler, bathing bowl, care mat etc. The beds were made when we arrived, so we didn't have to do it when we came all the way from Oslo, very kind!
Everything was much better than in a hotel! The kitchen was fully equipped and we had several nice meals together. We enjoyed the house very well and are happy to come back another time.
Maria was easy to communicate with, answered quickly and we felt well looked after all the time. Highly recommended!”
